Look, Daddy, flowers!

Yesterday afternoon Avery & I went for a little bike ride (in other words: Avery sat on her tricycle and pedaled occassionally while Daddy pushed from behind). Fortunately we purchased the tricycle that had the extension handle for parents! Anyway, I found it funny how every so often we would come across some dandelions and Avery would get so excited, stop the trike, and yell "Look, Daddy, flowers!" Oh to be young again and find beauty in the things that as adults we often overlook.

Last night the kids stayed out at the 'Lakehouse' with Grandma & Poppa giving Jill & I some quiet time and opportunity for a 'date'. Unfortunately, after a long day, it boiled down to stopping at McDonald's on the way home to get some ice cream, Jill taking a bath, and then quickly falling asleep while I stayed up and watched a movie made specifically for high school history teachers: Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure. If I remember correctly, the last time I watched the movie from start to finish I was in the 8th grade (1988) at the movie theater with Carly Brown & Justine Groat. Israel Maiden, a friend of mine, was supposed to join us but he got in trouble at home and never made it. So in true Swanson male style, there I was on a 'double date' with 2 ladies...just like Paul Rubert used to do it back in Mt. Vernon - right dad! I wasn't supposed to 'date' - but if I remember correctly I told mom & dad that it was a group of people going to the movie...little did I know that in all actuality it was a group of LADIES and ME! In true Cassanova style I remember buying M & M's for us (big spender that I was...I think the candy cost an outrageous $1.50 or something for a good size bag) and as I tried to open it up in the theater during the movie it 'exploded' raining Peanut M & M's down on us...I have always had a way with the ladies! Anyway, I watched the movie last night so I could see what clips I wanted to pull for an end of the year class activity. The quote on the movie poster is classic: History is about to be rewritten by two guys who can't spell! LOVE IT! I am sorry, but anytime you have a movie that puts major historical figures like Socrates, Sigmund Freud, Joan of Arc, Abraham Lincoln, Ginghis Kahn, and Billy the Kid together AND in a MALL in the 1980's...CLASSIC!

Not much else to report, 15 days left in school this year. Starting World War I in my World History class (we jumped from Napoleon to WWI - running behind schedule) and finished Reconstruction so will jump through the late 1800's and early 1900's until WWI in my American History class for the last approx. 12 school days...no problem!

No news on the house...haven't even had a walk-through in the past week...Kristen, you may actually get to see our house after all!

Until next time...
